Reflecting on the Joel Osteen sermon

"What's interesting is the dirt that was meant to bury him, saved his life." - Joel Osteen All through my life, I've had dirt scooped up and tossed on me by friends, acquaintances and family. I'd been deemed "hopeless", "unwanted", "a black sheep" by those who mattered most at some point or the other. I've got one of the more dramatic biographies amongst the girls I know and oft' times in the past, there had been many crossroads where I coud've veered off the cliff and into the point-of-no-return, but God has kept me. Like that mule, I shook off every barbed criticism that hurt, every assumption that I would never amount to anything in life, every bitchy comment made by the gals in class, every hurt btw Mum and I... and i stepped up on every layer of dirt that was meant to bury me alive. I am quite stubborn in a way - but stubborness has 2 sides, a good side and a bad side. I'd like to think what I had was a strange te...

Music to Press On to

Looking at the mountain of writing to be done (and it keeps growing - which is not all bad actually) and keeping an uplook instead of outlook as I do what I have to in the natural as He takes care of the rest... =) Found this song today by Selah and it is edifying me as I press on, running the rade, fighting the good fight in Him and only Him. Praise You Jesus! =D The joy in the LORD is my strength. Hallelujah! Press On - Selah When the valley is deep when the mountain is steep when the body is weary when we stumble and fall When the choices are hard when we're battered and scarred when we've spent our resources when we've given our all In Jesus name we press on In jesus name we press on dear lord, with the prize clear before our eyes we find the strength to press on --------------- Extra note: I watched this after the above song and I tell U I puddled like nuts. I have not watched the Passion of Christ movie in full yet, but everytime I see these images ( in the video be...

Storm - Lifehouse

I have never heard of Lifehouse till today. Yes I know - swakoo. Andrea sent me a beautiful skit played to their music. and Ian told me they seem to be a secular band. BUT I found this song and I knew they are Christ led... =) The lyrics moved me to tears. It has been a pretty tough battlefield of the mind recently and this song ministered to me so beautifully. So many visuals flooded my mind and amidst it all, I saw Him walking on water, hand outstretched to me in the storm, ready to lead me out of the mess and the noise into His Shalom. how long have I been in this storm so overwhelmed by the ocean's shapeless form water's getting harder to tread with these waves crashing over my head if I could just see you everything will be alright if I'd see you the storminess will turn to light and I will walk on water and you will catch me if I fall and I will get lost into your eyes and everything will be alright and everything will be alright I know you didn't bring me out her...

A collection of pictures of my soul through the years

"Grace is the light, our loving heart is the film, Jesus is the person who fills the lens of our soul, and soon a heavenly photograph of his character is produced." - Charles H Spurgeon As a baby Christian of what is coming to 5 years (I do not consider my RC days as being saved or being Christian), I have looked back at the photographs of my soul over the years captured in old blogs, old memories and literally old photos, and feel surprised how far things have changed from those days. In the past, I would say I was darker, gloomier, more fatalistic, falling apart at the seams half the time. I cussed. I swore. I stole. I was lost. I disobeyed. I hated. I angered. I gave up. I grumbled. I chose always to see the negative spaces in life and not the positive ones. I was using some cheap ISO 50 film then - less sensitive to the Light. I had to be in the light to capture anything at all. The moment I stepped out of it into darkness, the photo would just be an inky blackness- Like ...

Our Paralympians have a lesson to teach us...

Yay!!!!!!! Yi Pin Xiu just won us the gold in the 50m backstroke (Women's s3)!! She won a silver just a few days back for the freestyle event! =D It was so funny because I was waiting for the news to come out on ST but could not find it so I went to the paralympics page. About 10 minutes later, the news finally broke on the ST website. =D Pin Xiu, Theresa Goh and Laurentia Tan's tenacity really wows me. I was researching on Pin Xiu when I saw this - Pin Xiu’s condition is still deteriorating, and so is her eyesight, which has been affected by a nerve condition brought about by the syndrome. However, she continues to stay positive , and her love for swimming has, not once, subsided. I think what is inspiring is that she continues to do the natural - swimming - despite all the "giants" around her... and the giants tumble around her because she stands up against them fearlessly. We have so much to learn from these Paralympians... =) To see Pin Xiu's winning swim go t...

Ugly Duckling, Ugly Geri

Image
"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." - Isaiah 40:31 I guess I was like Ugly Duckling somewhat when I was younger. I had been told I was a duck and that I quacked, not honk. I would watch the swans enviously - grace was their middle name - and which I were swan too. I tried to fit in with the other ducks but I was ostracised because I was just too different from them. They had pretty, multicoloured feathers arrayed in beautiful designs - but my feathers seemed drab in comparison. I tried to find love and acceptance in all the wrong places, trusted the wrong people. I cried myself to sleep like the Ugly Duckling each night. I saw myself the way the world described me to be like I agreed with them because I didn't know better. I fell into an icy crack on the cold and frosted ground one day, whilst running away from the wintery landscape, and there I...

Sept 11 2008 - 7 years from The Day

Yesterday Ian and I went out for a dinner to celebrate Life - to celebrate the Day I found out about my expecting Kaelen, as well as to celebrate how everything in our lives have been blessed and will grow in blessings despite initial feelings of doom and gloom. I found out I was pregnant the day Sept 11 occured in USA... and each day since has become brighter and brighter. It's been 7 years already - so fast - and God's timing is perfectly perfect and His blessings bring no sorrow. Hallelujah! I love you Kaelen - very very much... MUACKS!
