To someone out there with suicidal thoughts AND/OR struggling with depression
Usually the thoughts of I am all alone and it is pointless isn't coming from you.
The devil is called the accuser and a liar. The accusations and lies you hear are not from yourself.
Picture it this way- a part of you deep inside wants to live but is afraid there is no point to do so. That fear allows those thoughts of pointlessness in.
I used to be suicidal and depressed for 10 years or so until the HS broke the illusion of the lies that the devil tried to cloud me with. The devil wants us to focus on the self instead of how much Jesus loves us and what He has already won for us.
When we focus on self, we stay in a vicious cycle or loop where we can't get out of the situation. This is because we can only break out if we look to Jesus and call out to Him- for at His name, every knee must bow & when the Complete comes, the incompletes (the darkness that is) has to flee. As long as we are negative, we are weak- exactly where the enemy wants us to be.
The joy of the LORD is our strength. The moment we lose joy, we lose strength.
Joy is not a feeling of happiness. It is tied in to FAITH (believe and speaking, forgetting all I trust Him), HOPE (a confident expectation of something good coming our way because of HIS victory on the cross for us), LOVE ( it is not we who love but Jesus who first loves us).
If you are well, you can touch so many lost souls and downtrodden hearts for Christ. The devil doesnt want you well. BUT JESUS DOES & because Daddy God has given us the gift of free will, He can't force us to be happy. He needs us to make the choice.
Once we choose to really surrender it all to Him, then can He take over. We need to let go of the past hurts to move on.
It's like a wrestling match= Jesus is at the side calling out encouragements, waiting to be tagged in to take your place. But you hear the BOOs of the crowd, the taunt of the enemy pummelling you in the ring, his evil partner sneaking in a chair so he can whack you.
You lie there thinking the final count will happen soon, so should you just give up and be whacked?
Then deep inside a choice emerges- just lie there or to give it one last shot & to reach out for your partner even as you get thrashed.
So you reeeeeach and the fingers meet. Your partner can finally enter the situation because You allow Him to!
Jesus comes in and whacks the enemies who are panicking. You're at the sides resting as He conquers because you are a team and as He is in that ring (the world), so are you. When He wins, you win & He has already won the moment He got into the ring & the enemies know it. That is why they tried to keep Him out & you in...
So how did u end up in the ring, because you tagged yourself in at one point worrying Jesus couldn't make it for you both, and because your hands reached to tag him out (He was not trying to tag you in but perhaps you assumed you couldn't let Him do all the work), He legally had to go out of the picture. And when He was outside, the enemies whacked you knowing if you knew HE ALREADY HAS THE VICTORY (coz they cannot possibly beat Him), you would not give up and would have tagged Jesus in sooner.
So we are already MORE than conquerors in Christ. Don't let the devil convince you otherwise.
I have sat on a window sill 12 floors up, hearing thoughts I then thought was mine but now I know were planted there in my head to sound like me by the devil.
We prosper as our soul prospers. As long as we don't feed our hearts right, our inner self starves (our spiritual part of us) and our outward circumstances seem to go nowhere.
I recommend you go to YouTube and listen to sermons by Joseph Prince, go to the Apple iTunes to dloading sermons by Charles Capp. And don't roll your eyeballs- Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer. Watchman Nee, Max Lucado, Smith Wigglesworth articles are a wonderful read. These are v good food for the soul.
Don't let yourself go down like this. I thank God I lived. I couldn't possibly imagine being where I am today when I was down. I'd never imagine myself here. And the devil still tries to shake my world but as long as I maintain in contact with Christ, maintain a close relationship, I hear Him clearer than the lies. Hugs.
Jesus is in the midst of your troubles with you, but you need to tag Him in and let Him fight the battles as you REST in His love for you.
