Be Magnified...

I got my choir file a few days ago and was more than happy to flip through it. I saw familiar songs and I read the lyrics to this song,"Be Magnified", and felt extremely touched by it. There is nothing that God cannot do, but we so oft limit Him through our unbelieving words. A daily devotional I read asked this weird question - "When is a bird bigger than a mountain?" The answer? "When it is closer." Are we closer to Daddy or to our mountains today? Because our perspective with regards to our trials and tribulations are affected by the relationship we have with Him. If you see the mountains as being bigger, than I urge you to quickly head back into your Abba Father's arms now; just like the Papa in the Prodigal Son parable, our Abba Daddy is scanning the horizon for you and will sprint towards you with sheer joy at your presence. Abide close by Him and you will always see your Heavenly Abba up-close-and-personal, and not "from a distance" as

My Hubby- My Precious Blessing from Abba Father

When I hear about marriages falling apart around my friends or about how some people struggle with unbelieving spouses, I really feel so grateful to Abba Daddy for Ian. Ian is an extremely supportive and loving husband. He makes me breakfast drinks in the morning, scratches the itch on my back that I can't quite reach, he massaged away a cramp in my foot, prays together with me and for me, anoints me with anointing oil every day before we head out of the house, remembers to slip on my engagement and wedding rings on my finger everyday after bath time, helps me with my housework, encourages me when I feel frustrated, hugs me when I need some love, showers me with kisses, peppers our life with humour and patience, loves my cooking, does washing up because I slaved over the stove/oven for his makan, clears the hair from the bath tub, LOVES KAE A LOT, helps me shower and change Kae on busy days, lets me sleep in if I am exhausted (coz I worked late on some stuff) whilst he settles the

Take my hand LORD -today's devotional that touched me

All Around Me Take my hand I give it to you Now you own me All I am Children are always being told, “Hold my hand”—when in stores, crossing streets, or sometimes just when they need to be led. Children don’t always know which way to go, and without a little guidance they can become lost. Just like children, we often find ourselves lost and not knowing where to turn in our lives. We thought we knew which way we were supposed to go, but now we’re not so sure. Or we knew what God wanted us to do, but chose a different path, convinced that what we wanted was worth it. But God reaches out and tells us to hold his hand. God desires to lead us; all we have to do is take his hand and walk with him. Psalm 37:23-24 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Remaining in Armor and staying armed! =)

I was doing Quiet Time earlier today when I flipped my bible to Nehemiah 4. My eyes were led to read the following two verses -  Neither I nor my brothers nor my men nor the guards with me took off our clothes; each had his weapon, even when he went for water.  - Nehemiah 4:23 Each builder wore his sword at his side as he worked - Nehemiah 4:18  It was truly food for thought as I wondered how many of us stay in our spiritual armor with our sword at our side as we go about our daily lives?  This seems to be a follow-up thought that is somehow linked to my blog entry yesterday on making time for Christ. =D  I was led later to check out again Ephesians 6:11, which further reminds us to "put on the FULL armor of God so that you can fights against the devil's evil tricks".   According to Ephesians, this is our Spiritual Armor - Belt of Truth Breastplate of Righteousness Feet shod with the Good News Shield of Faith Helmet of Salvation Sword of the Spirit (ie the Word of God) T

Canada and Australia's Dilemma

An interesting dilemma has popped up in the governments of Canada & Australia - should the LORD's prayer be abolished, or even - gasp - rewritten??? The LORD's prayer is recited at the beginning of their legislative assemblies, but there have been cries for the practice to be terminated. These outcries are in Canberra,Australia and Ontario,Canada .  Quebec in Canada is seeing a similar up-in-arms to remove the Christian symbol of the crucifix from its National Assembly. Briefly - "A Canadian Jew says public Christianity infringes on his religious freedom. Henry Freitag is on a righteous campaign to eliminate all religious expressions from every level of Canadian government. The septuagenarian Jewish resident from Penetanguishene, Ont., who immigrated to Canada in 1956, does not attempt to hide his zeal. Last year he persuaded the Ontario Court of Appeal to rule out reciting the prayer at all Ontario city council meetings, regardless of public opinion." "If O

Faith in His Shalom in the face of turmoil

Perfect love casts off all fear and anxiety- when you know how much Jesus loves you,  you will come to be in His Shalom. The word SHALOM means completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, and the absence of agitation or discord. Remember that though the financial analysts and doctors paint a bleak picture, that you can choose to focus on what they say or on the promises your Heavenly Dad has made to you - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."- Jer 29:11 We are in Christ, and as Christ is so are we in THIS world. It is interesting how bible emphasizes that it is talking about THIS world not the Kingdom to come. Healing, Provision is for THIS world. Many people think that the wholeness and peace is for when Christ comes again, but Christ knows our every need. "The LORD is my shep

Just to share a comment I put on Stillhaventfound's blog

Hungribunni  Says:  Your comment is awaiting moderation.   October 28th, 2008 at 6:40 pm Was reading the comments of the various people here and I see many familiar names. I used to come from a Roman Catholic Church where I frowned upon talk of prosperity teachings and tithing. I used to think the protestant church was cheating its members of money - thanks to wrong thoughts planted in my head. It took time to learn what tithing truly is and how to have a heart of worship, even tho’ I truly felt like I had a relationship going with Christ from young. I then went on to attend an AOG church which focused a lot on the Purpose-Driven life, but left me feeling empty and feeling like I needed to do something for Christ or I’d be spiritually in debt to Him. My hubby and I were dating then and we both agree that those days we felt fed and then not fed. There was spiritual hunger but the Church’s teaching was works-driven in many ways, tho’ there was some teachings on grace… so we became spirit

A friend sent me this story "THE OLD TELEPHONE" - moving read! =D

THE OLD TELEPHON E    THIS HAPPENED IN THE 'GOOD OLD DAYS' WHEN PEOPLE REALLY CARED ABOUT EACH    OTHER .    When I was quite young, my father had one of the first telephones in our    neighborhood. I remember the polished, old case fastened to the wall. The    shiny receiver hung on the side of the box. I was too little to reach the    telephone, but used to listen with fascination when my mother talked to    it.    Then I discovered that somewhere inside the wonderful device lived an    amazing person. Her name was 'Information Please' and there was nothing    she did not know.   Information Please could supply anyone's number and    the correct time.    My personal experience with the genie-in-a-bottle came one day while my    Mother was visiting a neighbor. Amusing myself at the tool bench in the    basement, I whacked my finger with a hammer, the pain was terrible, but    there seemed no point in crying because there was no one home to give    sympathy.    I wa

Halloween - its actual origins =p

Image
Halloween: A Celebration of Darkness Modern celebrations of Halloween may appear on the surface to be quite harmless, but the spiritual implications of dabbling with the spirit world are extremely serious. What must an unfamiliar observer think of Halloween? Parents dress their children as monsters, vampires, devils, witches and ghosts and encourage them to approach total strangers and ask them for candy and other treats. Home owners decorate their houses with images of black cats, ghosts, goblins and carved pumpkins and sometimes transform their yards into make-believe graveyards. Adults dress in similar strange and outlandish costumes and go to parties in rooms decorated like dungeons or crypts. Why are such bizarre practices so popular? Why would anyone celebrate a holiday emphasizing the morbid and macabre? Where did such strange customs originate? As with Christmas and Easter, we can trace the roots of Halloween far back into the pagan past. By medieval times Nov. 1 had been estab

Shocked by The Bible - a book that sounds real cool!!

Shocked by the Bible? A commentary by Mike Bennett  When a journalist takes on the Bible, you might expect a post-modern putdown of the ancient holy book. But award-winning journalist Joe Kovacs has a different take on the Holy Scriptures. He actually takes the Bible at its word and shows how many shocking misconceptions people have about it today. In his new book  Shocked by the Bible  Kovacs, currently executive news editor for WorldNetDaily.com, questions everything people think they know about the Bible. He says his book is "meant to startle you with truths you did not know were in Scripture, to get you to think with a new perspective. I'm not talking about trivial names and places no one can pronounce. I am talking about major issues, including who God is, who you are, why you were born, and your ultimate destiny" (p. xii, 2008). Don't expect the party line of the major denominations here. Kovacs subtitles his book "The Most Astonishing Facts You've Neve

Thoughts on Making Time for Jesus

We make time for our spouses to pak-tor (go on dates); we make time to hang out with our friends for a meal or to watch a movie together; we make time to snuggle up to our little ones and play with them; we make time to catch up with our family members... BUT when it comes to God (and sometimes exercise... lol), we say "I was busy," or "I didn't have time for quiet time. Work was so hectic today." I know some people find that the bible is quite a bit of a chore to read and some just don't like to read period - but we rob ourselves. not the Kingdom by "feeling" that way. The Apostle Paul reveals in his letters that the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. What is interesting to note however is that the word for Scripture that is used here is not 'logos', but 'rhema', which means an 'utterance.'  In speaking God's Word or God's "utterance" we are able to defeat Satan in battle! Our Shepherd King shows us h

Let not your heart be troubled... a beautiful poem

Let not your heart be troubled, Give your worries and cares to Me. I am your Heavenly Father Who suffered and died for thee. There are times throughout your Earthly life When you are filled with doubts and fear. Always come to Me in prayer And know that I am near. The love I have for you, dear child, Can never be bought or measured. It's a gift I freely give to you. It is My most precious treasure. When sorrow or pain come your way And life seems to be unfair, Let not your heart be troubled... Just come to Me in prayer. Poet: Shirley Hile Powell

On Repentance

After John the Baptist baptized Christ, he continued on in his work - preaching and baptizing about Christ, for He was still generally unknown to men. He was also preparing the minds of men for repentance. What is repentance??? Is it just the act of being sorry? In the original Greek (the New Testament was originally written in Greek and the Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew), the English word "repent" is actually the Greek word "metanoeo". "Metanoeo" is defined in Strong's Greek Dictionary as the following - to think differently afterwards; to reconsider afterwards. To be detailed the word "Metanoeo" breaks down into Meta + Noeio (hereafter + consider, perceive, understand, think). To repent is perhaps to hereafter change the way we think and perceive circumstances ahead of us; it means to change the way we consider our actions and understand the Word of God.  As Believers, we need to repent of the world's way of thinking in

Intro to John continued =D

The Word was God (1:1) but also became flesh (1:14) as Christ. God wanted to experience and truly understand what we go through as human beings. Just look at some of the human experiences Christ had. We don't have a high and lofty God, we have a God who truly cares, a Father who truly understands our pain. Weariness - 4:6 Thirst - 4:7 Dependence - 5:19 Grief - 11:35 Troubled Soul- 12:27 Anguish +death - 19 What peace we often forfeit and what needless grief we bear because we do not take it to the LORD in prayer! ========== John uses allegories a lot in his writings. Allegories is defined in the dictionary as this - a representation of an abstract or spiritual meaning through concrete or material forms. In short an allegory is when one speaks so as to imply something other. John was also adapt at the usage of parallelism. Parallelism is defined by a dictionary as this - likeness, correspondence, or similarity in aspect, course, or tendency. The account of the miracle feeding of the

amazing- no coincidence in Christ

This is sooooooo cool =D I got this on my other daily devotional. AS FOR GOD, HIS WAY IS PERFECT; THE WORD OF THE LORD IS PROVEN; HE IS A SHIELD TO ALL WHO TRUST IN HIM. ( PSALM 18:30 *NKJV ) Dear Geraldine, Now as David said; YOUR WORD IS A LAMP TO MY FEET AND A LIGHT TO MY PATH. For, THE WORD OF THE LORD IS RIGHT, AND ALL HIS WORK IS DONE IN TRUTH. ( PSALMS 119:105 & 33:4 ) After all it is written; FOR THE WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND POWERFUL, AND SHARPER THAN A TWO-EDGED SWORD. ( HEBREWS 4:12 ) Therefore , today we will take a look at some very interesting facts about God's Letter to us, The Holy Bible! What is the shortest chapter in the Bible? Answer - Psalms 117; with only 2 verses! What is the longest chapter in the Bible? Answer - Psalms 119; with 176 verses! Which chapter is in the center of the Bible? Answer - Psalm
