Kae at his first Chess Tournament in School

He walked away from the 2 day tourney with a Merit Trophy- his first ever. Yay! =D

Conformity, not cowardice, is the opposite of Courage.

"But I did not behave like them out of reverance to God." - Neh 5:15. Nehemiah was governor for 12 yrs & chose not 2 be corrupt like the governors b4 him. He chose integrity becoz of a high regard & respect for God. Let's make the above quote the reason why we may make the right decisions even tho' they aren't easy. It's impt for us to value God's opinion over man's. ;) Who do we trust/ serve? :-D We can only choose one Master over our life. Choose wisely. Hugs! SHALOM- Geri

Kae and his Primary 1 classmates celebrate CNY in his school! =D

Image
I am so impressed. The teachers have created a blog for the Primary 1 students and parents. =) It has photos so we can see what goes on and I think that this is another great way Kheng Cheng builds rapport with the parents. The parent-teacher communication line is very open, friendly and strong. Love his school. Praise God that he is in it. =D (click to see the full photo - Kae is on the right side of the pic. Hehe.)

Parenting with Grace? Not so easy hor! =)

I love how Pastor Mark preached once about parenting with grace and not law. It sounds easy but man there are days you just want to break out the 10 commandments and the 2 slabs of stone when the kid is doing the brat in the pits routine. Argh. This morning was a particular trying morning - Kae took 30 minutes to wake up! He has to be in school by 7.15am and we have to be out of the house latest by 7.10am. So there we were at 6.20am... I waltzed into the room with a smile, a lilting "Good morning Sunshine. Time to wake up for school!" and a kiss on the forehead. Unfortunately, whilst I got up on the right side of bed, it seemed the little one already got up on the wrong side of bed despite still not budging from his foetal position. I tried to patiently rouse him but Kaelen would not get up and was throwing a huffy puffy tantrum. It hit 6.30 am and still he was huffing and puffing like an angry little bull flagged off by a red cloth. Around this time, the lilting voice melte

All around us we observe a pregnant creation

All around us we observe a pregnant creation. The difficult times of pain throughout the world are simply birth pangs. But it's not just around us, it's within us. The Spirit of God is arousing us within. We're also feeling the birth pangs. These sterile and barren bodies of ours are yearning for full deliverance. That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don't see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become and the more joyful our expectancy. Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that ev

An article I liked - Samson: A life out of control??

Samson is one of those characters in the Bible who seems to be bigger than life: he kills a lion with his bare hands; he carries off the gates of a city; he catches foxes, ties their tails together, and puts torches in them to let them loose in the fields of his enemies; and he ends his life by pulling down the temple of Dagon on himself and on a full house of Philistines. Not only does he do things in the power of the Lord, things that we would have to call miracles, his whole life is a miracle. His birth was announced to his mother by an angel, he lived his life as a Nazarite (someone set aside for special service to God); he is described as someone God chose to use to set Israel free from their oppressors. Consider all the possible parallels between Samson and Jesus. Just as Joseph is a type of Christ, so too is Samson. However, there is a difference between Joseph and Samson. Joseph is portrayed as a person who is faultless. Even though no one except Jesus ever lived a sinless life

A challenging day and a challenging reflection =)... orig written on the 14th of Jan 2009.

Somedays I feel so challenged by the circumstances around me. Today was one of those days. My mum and I don't get along ( but I believe we will grow closer and more loving with time- amen!) - she is the typical Singaporean Chinese mother who has great aspirations for her child and was greatly disappointed because I did not become a doctor, lawyer, engineer, accountant but am a freelance scriptwriter. She caned me for everything - trivial, small or big. She always reminded me that I owed her everything and that the house I live in is not my house but that she owns it. She always found things to pick on but hardly ever praised me. She called my gifts and talents useless and rubbish, and I grew up harbouring so much anger and depression inside of me because of her constant putting me down. She has a very negative tongue that really speaks poison into people and situations but she realises it not. Today, without warning, my mother descended upon my flat that is in the midst of serious

Watchman Nee on Truth, Baptism & Life - super duper thought provoking!

Truth preached without light becomes doctrine, but truth preached with light becomes revelation. When truth is received as doctrine, it gives us a big head; but when truth is received as light or revelation, it becomes life experience. How does God use the Spirit of Truth to lead us into the Word of Truth? By having the light of God shine upon the Word. When this occurs, we are at once brought by the Spirit of Truth into a living experience of the reality of that truth. -------------- In spiritual matters, do not be afraid of people's opposition. If things are of God, eventually people will acknowledge them to be right. -------------- The measure of one's Life is based on the degree of one's death. Doctrine is always limited, whereas Life is unlimited. -------------- To be baptized means to be included in Christ's death. Have you truly been baptized? God puts a representative symbol before us - the Cross - and we, too, put a representative symbol before Him as our answe

Reaction = Reflection =D

Judges 13:22,23 22 "We are doomed to die!" Manoah said to his wife. "We have seen God!" 23 But his wife answered, "If the LORD had meant to kill us, he would not have accepted a burnt offering and grain offering from our hands, nor shown us all these things or now told us this." Shalom and a blessed Sabbath afternoon!! =D Ever heard the people around you, believers and non believers alike, go "Si liao!", "Die lah!", "This time finish already lor!"... my grandma used to go "Si ah, Si ah" (Die, die) after she sneezed. Thankfully she accepted Christ some months before she slept in the LORD. =p So I know she died one death but not two. Others like to go "sh*t", "f***" and use other colourful terminologies in their lives when something goes wrong or when someone upsets them. I remember Pastor Mark in his previous sermon telling people - if everytime say dung dung dung over everything, no wonder a lo

WHOSE are you??? ^.^"

A pupil is not superior to his teacher, but everyone (when he is) completely trained (readjusted, restored, set to rights, perfected, transformed) will be like his teacher. - Luke 6:40 We are not greater than Christ but when we allow God's wisdom to take over our worldly logic, we put on the robe of righteousness, coat our tongue with praise not curses, undergo our heart transformation by accepting His position as He takes your place to undergo judgement... we are able to let the light of His glory shine through every area of our lives. And when people see that light, they see, not us better, but they see Christ better. Jesus has restored us to right standing and even won for us the right to call God our heavenly Daddy. He has made Himself our firm foundation so that upon the solid rock we stand and we can enjoy our full inheritance of our son-ship in Him. Thanks to His sacrifice, God sees us perfect despite our unworthiness. He has taken our ashes and replaced it with the beauty o

When you feel so hurt no words can describe it...

Because you got a double dose of trouble and more than your share of contempt, your inheritance in the land will be doubled and your joy go on forever (Isaiah 61:7 The Message). It can be discouraging to speak about Jesus to my parents sometimes, My mum has a tendency to say negative things and so I'd be busy rejecting them in Christ under my breath. When I told her the importance of speaking God's good will over us instead of our saying bad things, she said why you so superstitious?? I explained to her that this was not superstition but a biblical principal clearly stated in Scriptures. Before our wedding, my aunt asked us not to tithe as we should save the money for our life together and not to give to the church our hard earnedd cash. I held my tongue but told her thanks for her advice and explained the reason we tithed. Sometimes it is hard when the people you love do not share the same revelation and understanding as you do. There are conflicts, there a

The F Word

FAITH, FAVOUR - good F Words. The worse F word? Not the one that sprung to mind when you first saw the title of my post. I say the worse F word is FEAR. Fear is basically False Evidence Appearing Real. Fear is saying I am not so sure if my God is mighty to save... Fear is having a poor opinion of God in every way... Fear is basically the Devil's greatest weapon to halt you as your journey with Christ. You harvest what you sow. Don't sow seeds of doubt, you get a crop of mangled weed and nothingness. Start sowing seeds of faith - faith is essentially believing and speaking the Word of God in every situation, over everyone and anything... it is agreeing with God's will for you that is spelled out in Jer 29:11 and the blessings are detailed in Deut 28 (curses overpaid for already by Christ). When you sow seeds of faith, you prepare the field for a great harvest (all the promises of God) when God sends the rain! Remember also the first thing Jesus told His disciples when God as

When the seas are choppy...

Dearest Beloved and the disciple whom Jesus loved, When faced with a bad situation remember that God's WORD or promises to you has NOT changed even though the circumstances around you have. Praise God because He will use what the devil means to harm you with and turn it into even greater blessings in His perfect time! Like David, remember to always see GOD bigger than the giants in your life and always keep His praise on your lips. Remember our life and life more abundantly comes through the Word of Christ and speaking it leads to the tree of life. Speaking against the will of God only brings destruction. If you want to curse, swear, grumble, mumble... guard your tongue before it starts rolling out curses on your situation unknowingly and instead pray in tongues or sing a praise song! Do so until your shalom is restored and you feel in His peace again. =) In this way, you let your tongue go, but you let go the right things rather than the wrong things. AMEN! Proverbs 10:22 promises

11 vs 14600 days - a reflection orig written for Kae =D

People who are not proud will inherit the land. They will enjoy complete shalom. - Ps 37:11 Dear Beloved, as long as we stay humble and teachable, God is more than able to guide us from the wilderness to the Promised land. Do not wander the desert for 40 years like the Hebrews because of sheer rebellion, stubborness, pride, and hardness of heart. It was an 11 days journey to the promised land but they took 14600 days to complete it as they walked around in circles, which is 1327 times longer than they should take!!! We will also enjoy God's shalom (wholeness, peace, good health, prosperity- victory in every area) if we stay patient and have the best opinion of His will. Never think that God's delays are God's denials. Hold on; hold fast; hold out. Patience is genius. -- George-Louis Leclerc de Buffon There is no shadow of turning with Him... remember that always. AMEN! Love Ger

2009 - 1st post

Sorry it took me more than a week to get back on my blog. =) I was down with food poisoning for a few days - praise God that by His stripes I was healed and fast! =D Then Kae started school so I've been busy with that, adjusting to waking up in the morning at 6am or 5.55am... and then rushing out scripts (praise God!) for TV or going for meetings for new writing jobs. I also have to work out the schedule with my Dad who swings by to help me with Kae and pack the spare room to convert it into Kae's room (MAJOR spring cleaning as there are a lot of old furniture to remove and cleaning to do. =D ). I will miss the little guy snoring in my room but we would like to get him a nice little pad to call his own. =) My hugest apology! ^.^" Eversince Kae started school, I have been thanking God for the crisp morning air I get to breathe in every day. I love it! I do my daily devo reading on my way back after leaving him at the school gate (can't go beyond the guard post you see)
