Learning how to help

I've come to learn, over the years, that when we counsel and provide a listening ear, we must always lean on Christ for the wisdom to let Him take over when we cannot.

We just have to trust that He knows how to help the person. He is the Creator after all, and we must not feel like it is our duty to solve someone's problem or get them to see things exactly the way we do- right now, right here.

There are indeed times of such breakthrough; other times, our purpose, perhaps is more to plant a seed that might take root and blossom later on when someone else, or someoneS else, water it with an insight, action or sharing.

As gardeners in His field, we all take turns sowing, watering, fertilizing, weeding, harvesting; and it's very important to remember that only He can help the flower blossom in its perfect season- ie. in His perfect time.

Don't lose heart if someone you help doesn't get your point, or is thinking of giving up. It's not your fault... It's easy, right then, for the devil to cause you to feel guilt and condemnation. So you must stand on Daddy God's Word- there is now no condemnation in Christ.

The best thing to do then, imho, is to just listen and pray victory over their situation. Don't feel you must trouble shoot. It's not by your strength or might. Precisely then you must lean on His Spirit and guidance.

Discern if the person is open to prayer, if not pray in your personal space, then let go and let God. You're not doing your loved one a favour if you too cling to the problem and the negative emotion.
