Urgent Prayer Request for a Missing Girl
The younger sister of a friend of mine has run away from home. She is not yet 16 and I think she feels terribly alone, unloved and misunderstood.
For confidentially purposes, her name is Violet, and if you have time, do say a little prayer for her.
Violet is not the natural daughter of the family. She was a niece adopted into the family. She has 3 brothers who might find it awkward to share with her, to advice her due to the gender divide. Her adoptive mother calls her a useless pig and puts her down all the time. She sleeps in her mother's room but if the mum is home late, she has no access to the room and has to sleep outside in the living room.
Her brothers love her... especially her second brother, but she needs more than love. She needs reassurance, discipline and more than that, she needs T-I-M-E. The brothers try but are also busy running their own lives. And TIME and LOVE from a brother is so different from TIME and LOVE from a parent.
I understand what it is like to have a mother whom you can't get along with, who puts you down.
But I knew my mother loved me despite her harsh words. I think Yan might not feel the same reassurance. Her mother has made it clear from day one that she is not her real mother.
As parents we must remind ourselves that the way we show love, the words we use on our kids have an impact on them. It gives them hope or it bring great despair. It might build them or destroy them over time.
I've met the girl - she seems to lack confidence but is defiant, she seems lost and a little disconnected. She has a good heart and I believe has potential, but she might be mixing with the wrong crowd since no one's truly watched out for her in that area.
The police has been informed but she has not been found. There are also plans to put her in the Girls' Home because her family cannot manage her.
Violet needs your prayer and mine. Please spend some time to pray for her, for her family, for her second brother who is worried sick that his sister might be hurt somewhere and not able to come home.
