On Higher Ground

"Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, with me from Lebanon: look from the top of Amana, from the top of Shenir and Hermon, from the lions' dens, from the mountains of the leopards." (Song of Songs 4:8).

"Lebanon" is famous for its cedar trees. It is a noble, fragrant tree and the land is also known for its mountainous peaks- so this represents our coming to a higher place of worship.

"Amana" means confirmation or truth. It means gazing down from the height of God's vantage point and seeing the truth of a situation; coming from a higher and favoured ground than before. "Amen" comes from this word. Jesus is said in the Scriptures to be our Yes and Amen. :)

"Shenir" represents the Armour of the Holy Spirit. It talks about being clothed constantly in the robes of righteousness and knowing you are God's beloved one. These truths will protect us from the evil one.

"Hermon" symbolizes the victory of the Cross. We always come FROM victory in our life because Christ's work is a FINISHED work. He didn't forgive halfway, help halfway, conquer halfway- He went all the way as our one and ONLY Saviour, one and ONLY Redeemer. He loves you so much!

Knowing His is a victorious and finished work makes your prayer successful because you now speak with authority, from victory; as opposed to begging for victory you're unsure of. These three places are high places. They represent spiritual growth and enlargement. But the passage reminds us that TRIALS WILL TAKE PLACE even on higher ground- something Jesus also told us. On the mountainous regions there are leopards and lions waiting to attack and finish us off.

However we can be confident of getting through our trials. The LORD also reminds us that although there are trials, we must not fear or be worried because He has conquered them for us. We just need to stay confident, patient and be of joyful hearts. The manifestation of the victory sometimes takes a while but we should not stop praising God or having only the best opinion of Him. :)
