MORE Watchman Nee Quotes - good stuff!!
Grace means God must do something for me.
Law means I must do something for God.
Forgiveness is like having a bath.
Righteousness is like wearing a robe.
For the purpose of emptying us, the Holy Spirit allows us to meet with difficulties that we cannot overcome with self. This teaches us to rely on Him. You see, God must hollow us out before He can fill us.
Never answer Satan by boasting of your good conduct, or by bemoaning your sins, but answer always and only by the blood of Christ. It is our wholly sufficient defence.

ReplyDelete>>> i've talked to a few grace friends, and my gut feel is that all of us really embrace, nay, swallow line, hook and sinker the gospel of grace because we found/find ourselves in desperate situations (related to our finances, health or relationships) which we cannot resolve with our own resources. So we cry out to God, and God shows us the way through the gospel of grace - it's not about what we have to do, it's all about what He has done.
"Grace means God must do something for me."
Shalom Stanley!
ReplyDeleteYea I agree with you - it was when I hit rock bottom that I realised that all I could do was to finally let go and REALLY let our Daddy take over.
In the early stages I'd cry out to Daddy, "HELP!" BUT then I'd hold on to the problem still. I'd still try to think of ways to solve the situation - and by doing that, I clearly had not let go. And then I'd wonder why God had not done anything to make things better... =p
How silly we are sometimes and how proud we can be without realising it. =p
Another quote that had me chewing away -
"If you care, God will let you take care and will not take over. But if you do not care, God will care for you & take the whole responsibility on Himself. For the first condition in obtaining the life that wins is letting go; and upon relinquishing your hold, you WILL prevail." - Watchman Nee
Another chewable verse -
Romans 3:29 (MSG) - "We've finally figured it out - our lives got in step with God & all others by letting Him set the pace, not by proudly or anxiously trying to run the parade."
Hey girl, from which Watchman Nee's book did you extract the above quotes from?
ReplyDeleteI have 3 of his books of which i've finished 2. The one on "Powerful according to God" i have to put aside & gain some spiritual maturity first to comprehend :p I find some of his writings very deep while some so astute?; it amazes me how anyone can articulate on such difficult-to-explain subjects so well. :p
Heya Angie!
ReplyDeleteI got it from the book "The Life That Wins" - I saw a lone copy of it at The Rock bookstore the other day, so I picked it up.
I have a few of his books too =D w that I can recall off hand (not at home now) are Spiritual Authority &
The Character of God's Workman.
