A letter from the bottom of my heart
Dear Sis,
In the words of Sylvia Plath "I know the bottom, she says. I know it with my great tap root; It is what you fear. I do not fear it: I have been there."
Perhaps right now you feel like there is no way things can get better, perhaps you think that there is a "better" way out of your problems that involves taking your life into your own hands. But know this - they are all lies.
I had the same thoughts and feelings and though the "me" of yesteryear seems like a complete stranger today, the memories are still fresh when I try to draw them out on tap.
That darkness seems to go on forever, but when you light a match in your heart, you'll see how that you've been staring at a wall. All you have to do is turn around and walk and once you clear the bend, you'll find yourself staring into a beautiful summer sky.
Giving up always seems easy. So thank God He doesn't do the easy thing. He doesn't and will not give up on us. He has more faith in us than we do in ourselves.
Plath goes on to say this in her poem and maybe you resonate with it - "I am terrified by this dark thing that sleeps in me;" BUT know this - there is no dark thing inside you. Where there is light, darkness HAS to flee. What is there is a shadow cast upon your soul, but all you have to do is to keep on shining His light upon it. It is a shadow, not an object, not something firm and solid that can hurt you. It is an illusion meant to create fear, anger, grief.
You have life and life more abundantly - you don't have to seek it anymore, but you NEED TO LIVE IT OUT each and everyday with each step you take. You can be a cake mix full of delicious potential, but until some ingredients are added and you go through some baking, you'll just be cake mix.
You can soar but if you're gonna be afraid of taking that first step, that first flap out of your comfort self-pity zone, you'll always be grounded. It's like the story of Ugly Duckling - remember? It felt like the crappiest, most unfortunate creature on Earth until it finally looked at it's reflection in the Water and realise it was no butt ugly duck but a beautiful WHITE WASHED SWAN that could soar, that looked beautiful and that was way above the ridicule tossed at it earlier in its life.
I am covering you with prayer and I want you to know that I LOVE YOU. There is no condemnation. There is no disappointment in you. Just love and love and more love... because you mean so much to me sis. So hang on - everybody hurts some time, more than others at times- but even these shall pass.
The path of the righteous grows brighter and brighter unto the perfect day - cling to that truth, recall all the rainbows Jesus has painted for you before, all the times He came through for you and tell the devil, "GET THEE BEHIND ME SATAN!"
You are stronger, more beautiful, more blessed and anointed and talented than you think you are - and He chose you way before you chose Him, and He'll never let you fall.
HUGS,
Your Sis
