Singapore Botanic Gardens - I didn't realise how big it is

We brought Kae to the botanic gardens on Saturday. We intended to do that the week before but were to zonked out, so we tried to honour our promise this time. Our goal was to check out the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden.

We started off from the Orchard Road side and after walking two and a half hours, and with the help of a map (we picked up an hour into walking), we arrived at the Children's Garden which was close to the Bukit Timah entrance. *Faints* The sad thing was it started to rain just when Kae started to try out the playground... and it didn't look like it would stop before 7pm when the children garden closes. After waiting half an hour, we decided to head back. The bears were kinda tired from all the walking.

Kae was initially quite devastated - "You mean we walked all this way for nothing?"

We comforted him that at least we now know where the garden is, we can head for it straightaway next time instead of walking the long long way there. Besides, it was not that bad a trip. Ian and Kae played frisbee and we also got to see 3 squirrels, 2 swans, a really weird looking and old turtle... plus an assortment of plants/trees with funny names like "The Sausage Tree" and the "Ponytail Tree". We also got to SMS for more information on the Pulai tree. Talk about High tech! So it wasn't that fruitless an outing, and thankfully he agreed and didn't sulk. Phew.

Outing aside, the Botanic Gardens is a place with quite a bit of significance for me- it is the place I decided I would keep Kae and not abort. In fact the top right photo shows kae standing before the cafe where I made that decision. I got to share with him what happened and show him the exact spot the decision was made because I love him so very much. Kae hugged me and told me that he loved me very much too.

That was my fav moment of the whole walk... =)
