You're Closer Than You Think (Pt 1) - Joel Osteen

(Phew... had a tough time today coz the internet connection went wonky. But I've finally managed to put this up despite it all. I'd done this in the morning actually. ENJOY! =D) You're Closer Than You Think (Pt 1) - Joel Osteen I like to start with something funny each week. I heard about this police recruit. He was taking his final exam. He was in the front of this big classroom and the sergeant asked him, "What would you do if you had to arrest your own MIL?" Without missing a beat, he said, "Call for backup." Alright. Hold up your bible. Say it like you mean it - “This is my bible I am what it says I am, I have what it says I have, I can do what it says I can do. Today I will be taught the Word of God. I boldly confess my mind is alert, my heart is receptive, I will never be the same. In Jesus’s name.” God bless you. I want to talk to you today about staying full of hope. God has put dreams and desires into everyone of our hearts. We all have goals we...

Fine Linen for Cool Service - sermon

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRE6V5RERiM If you had known, even you especially this your day the things that make for your peace. If you had the things that make up for your shalom, your wholeness, your prosperity your peace. Look up here. Look up here. You know He rode on the donkey and saw the City from the Mount of Olives and He wept. We say that He wept because they rejected Him. But it is more than just self. You know why He wept? It's because He loved the Jews so much. You know what He said? "If only you had known the things that belong to your shalom." What grieves the LORD today? Christians do not know the riches that belong to them- The things that belong to your shalom, your wholeness, your prosperity, your peace. And that's why in Heaven there will be initial tears right? We go to heaven we'll cry. "But Pastor Prince in heaven there are no more tears." Yes, but there will be tears initially. The bible says God will wipe away all tears, and ...

Catch God’s Superabundance Of Free Favours This Year!

Ian and I have been attending New Creation Church for some years now and we have been greatly blessed by the way our Senior Pastor teaches the bible in a faithful and truthful manner, going through with us the meanings from the original Hebrew and Greek scriptures & teaching us about biblical symbolisms and types. The pastors of our church uphold Jesus and His finished work with much passion and truly His name is glorified every week on the pulpit, edifying us and showing us just HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!! =D This is Pastor's latest message that was put up on the church website and was taken from his sermon preached in December last year. May it bless you greatly!! Catch God’s Superabundance Of Free Favours This Year! - Pastor Joseph Prince, New Creation Church (extracted from: http://www.newcreation.org.sg/joseph_wendy_prince/msg_ps_joseph_prince/messagepsjoseph.html) The Lord showed me from Luke 4:19 (a quotation of Isaiah 61:2 by Jesus in a synagogue in Nazareth) that this y...

Recognizing What Battles to Fight (Joel Osteen) - Pt 2

Let me ask you- are you still fighting battles that have no spoils? Battles that are taking your time and energy and keeping you from pursuing what’s really important - your God-given goals, God-given dreams? Choose your battles wisely, we only have so much energy. When we get caught up in these things that don’t matter, upset, holding a grudge, pay somebody back, then when the real giant comes along, a real Goliath that is there to push into our divine destiny, we won’t have the focus nor the energy to win that battle. We have to realise some things don’t matter, Don’t make a big deal out of it. When I first got married, I’d get so uptight if Victoria did not turn all the lights off when we left. That was my pet peeve and I’d give her my speech again and again and again- “Victoria, you’ve got to be sure you turn all the lights off.” When I’d come home and all the lights are on, I’d get so uptight and go give her my same speech. She didn’t do it on purpose, we just have different pers...

Move on, move ahead and finish that race =)

I love this quote - "We cannot come to Christ to be justified until we have first been to Moses to be condemned. BUT once we have gone to Moses and acknowledged our sin, guilt and condemnation, we must NOT stay there." - John Stott I think the problem that most people have is that once they have been to Moses, they decide to park there, or they end up circling round and round, not moving along into Life and Life MORE abundantly. Mount Sinai is not a season parking lot. =p As one person said, "Don't get in the way, get ON the way." Move up, move on! You're on Mount Zion now and it is time to get a move on to the Promised Land waiting for you around the bend =) Leave that burden at the foot of the Cross - it is not for you to bear, and put on those white robes washed clean by the blood of Christ; live not the way you deserve to, but live the way Christ has paid for you to do so. We can allow our past to stumble us. We can look at our history and let it mak...

Recognizing What Battles to Fight... =)

Image
Just downloaded this sermon from the Joel Osteen website the other day on "Recognizing What Battles to Fight" . Loved it! Earlier in the cab, I played it out on speaker mode and I saw the taxi driver chuckling away to the sermon. I hope it brightened his day like it brightened mine, and that it changed his mindset like it changed mine. I found it humorous, relevant and very encouraging so I'm transcribing it to put it up here on my blog. =D Here is part 1 of 2 of what I have transcribed. Enjoy!! Part 1: Joel Osteen - Recognizing What Battles To Fight I like to start off each of my sermons with a joke. I heard about this blonde lady - now you know I am married to a beautiful, smart, and intelligent blonde so this is just a joke. Now this blonde was at Target when she saw this Thermos up on the shelf. She asked the clerk what was it. He said, “It is a Thermos. Have you not used it before?” “What does it do?” “Well, it keeps things hot and it keeps things cold.” The next ...

Yahweh Boleh! :)

If you believe, then all things are possible. - Mark 9:23 Joel Osteen wrote that the question today is: Will you believe? :) Will you allow the seed to take root? The angel told Mary she would conceive without knowing a man, that Sarah would bear a child in her 90s, the sea would part for the people to cross, just five loaves and two fish can feed thousands... The list goes on. What do these examples mean for us? They show us that God can save and provide by supernatural means! :) Praise Jesus! It's not about having that bank loan, the right education, a proper past... The conditions do not have to be naturally perfect. With Him, ALL things are possible. When it looks impossible, remember who God is, whose you are, and let the seed of faith take root. If you'll prepare your field,God will send the rain in His perfect time. :)

Pray for Israel

"And they all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem, to injure and cause confusion and failure in it. but because of them we made our prayer to our God and set a watch against them day and night." - Nehemiah 4:8,9

There was a lady who lost her job and co

There was a lady who lost her job and could not pay for her home loans. So she lost her house to the bank. Despite all she did, she could not do anything to redeem the house so she was resigned to the situation. She'd been a single mum who brought her children up in that house and it was important to her. Her house was eventually put on auction one day and she went to the auction to witness it being sold off. She cried and cried and cried throughout the auction, heart broken. The lady sitting next to her asked her what's wrong. So she told her everything. The lady asked her which was her house and she pointed it out. When it was her home's turn to be auctioned, the lady bid and bid and bid for the house. She won the bid and turned to her new friend and said, "I came to buy a house for my son, but I realise now that God sent me here to buy this house back for you." <Testimony from Lakewood church, America> Know this today- that God remembers you just like He ...

Deepak the misleading new age guru hitches a ride

Image
Call me skeptical... I was taken aback to see that Mr. Deepak Chopra has written a new book called "Jesus". Before you run out to grab his book, you must know this - The last book he wrote was called "The Third Jesus"; and he also wrote "Why Is God Laughing" and another book called "The God Delusion". Deepak Chopra is a dangerous false prophet. He has a huge following of gullible stars and starstruck fans alike. His book has also, because of their titles, migrated from the New Age Spirituality section to the Christian Titles section of several bookstores. One of them is Popular Bookstore. =p This dude, Eckhart Tolle and Neale Donald Walsch are a new breed of new age agents of the devil (sorry I call a spade, a spade) who write books with misleading titles (eg. Conversations With God). They make mention of Jesus and God not to glorify them but to glorify mankind - claiming that we too are diety. =pp There are too many of these books these days an...

A fallen tear

Woke up from my nap to read a message from a fellow mummy that a newborn baby boy had been found in a garbage dump- dead. Whilst I mourned for a little life snuffed out too soon, I reflected. My friend was saying that the Mum could've given the baby away. I totally agree, but the way I see it, the Mum prob wasn't in the right frame of mind. Throwing the baby out could have been a result of fear, anxiety, or depression. When one is emotional, one might not make the best choices. We also don't know how the baby came about- from a one night stand, a relationship she fears to lose or has lost, rape? That might have shaped her decision too. I'm not saying her actions are justified. I'm just saying that we humans judge so easily. Let's catch our thoughts and filter them through the eyes of grace. I know where the baby is, but I am concerned for the Mum. Is she regretting what she did? Is she under a lot of guilt and condemnation now? Is she frightened and even more de...

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

It's a very human thing that most of us do- dwelling on our problems- and the real reason why so many of us live defeated lives despite being more than conquerors in Christ. Today, challenge yourself to stop thinking about the myriad trials you see before you. Choose to keep an uplook instead of an outlook. Choose to see your mountains from God's perspective, not your own. It all boils down to making a choice and disciplining one's mind to stick to it. I recall how I used to choose to listen to sad songs especially when I was very down. Yes meet the melancholic old Geri- angsty gloom cookie whose view of life was completely eclipsed by the troubles I saw around me. I asked the questions "Why God? Why me? When God? When will I get out of this?" It was the myopic me-vision I engaged in then. The longer I mumbled and grumbled, cried buckets and drank up the poison of self-pity, the longer my circumstances remained as they were. Joyce Meyer shared once that sometimes ...

Hang on. Help is on the way.

Just to share- When I was 15- ostracised, molested, depressed, misunderstood, dabbling in new age garbage- I sat on the edge of my window one night, just wanting to end my life. It was 2 or 3 am in the morning, my door was lock and I was alone in my room crying my heart out because I was just so broken up inside. I got ready to let go and all the thoughts in my head said - it's for the better. Your parents will eventually be happier since they fight mostly about you, your boyfriend will move on somehow, everything will return to normal after a while. And you won't have to suffer this crap anymore. Just let go. Lies upon lies upon lies by who else but the devil. I was going to jump when I felt something pull me back from behind. There was no one in the room mind you. =p I landed on the bed in shock as I realised what I had almost done. I shivered the whole night through. I believe it was the angels that Psalm 91 speaks about that pulled me back. I prayed Psalm 91 and 23 a lot as...

OUR DEBTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED- AMEN! =D

OUR DEBTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED - Andrew Wommack Ministries Luke 4:19, "To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." LUKE 4:16-30 This scripture had been written prophetically by the prophet Isaiah about 650 years prior to this time. It was read in Jewish synagogues thousands of times. But the one this verse was speaking of had never spoken it before. With this pronouncement, Jesus began the year of Jubilee. The Year of Jubilee was described in Leviticus 25. It was a year when everyone left their fields unworked and kept a sabbath unto the Lord. The Lord gave the people a miraculous provision the year before this jubilee started that sustained them for three years until their crops could once again be harvested. This jubilee was different than the other sabbatical years in that every debt was cancelled. All property was returned to its original owner and anyone who had been sold into slavery was set free. It was a year of new beginnings. Jesus proclaimed a spiritual jubilee....

His Hand Is Outstretched

His Hand Is Outstretched - Joel Osteen Ministries Today's Verse: "For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who can annul it? And His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?" (Isaiah 14:27, AMP). Today's Word: As believers, you and I have an advantage. We don't have to go through life just depending on our own talent, our own ability, our own strength. The Scripture talks about how God's hand is outstretched toward His people. That means there is a supernatural power behind every believer. God's outstretched hand will help you accomplish dreams that you thought were impossible. His outstretched hand will cause you to get well even when the medical report says there is no way. The outstretched hand of God will help us to prosper even when the economy is down. Let this sink down into your heart today. All through the day, imagine God's hand outstretched toward you. It is a hand of healing, a hand of favor, a hand of restoration. No matter w...

Grace, grace, grace, grace = GRACE

Little Kaelen took part in his first international chess tournament at Cheng San CC. He won 2 out of 7 matches which was not bad considering it was his first inter-school competition and they were also paired off against opponents of a variety of age groups in the Primary level. More than half of his opponents are in upper primary and only 2 were in lower primary as he is. =) He won his first match just before lunch, in the third set. His second victory was against a P5 student from his school. It was the 5th round and they were playing at Table 55. He was playing white. =D Lol. Grace upon grace upon grace upon grace that led to a grace-filled victory for the little boy. =) He did well imho considering he is an unranked novice. =D

Marching in the LIGHT of the LORD! =)

"Anyone who intends to come with Me has to let Me lead. You're not in the Driver's seat, I AM." - Mark 8:34 MSG At the end of the week, a few issues popped up hot from the toaster oven. 1) My Dad was hospitalised... we're still awaiting diagnosis. 2) A good friend lost her job because she is no longer a controversial, bad gurl... she's a single mum with 2 kids in the Media line. I believe that my Dad is the healed of Jesus and I find it amusing that first of all, he had just done a cancer screening (dad is very scared of getting stomach cancer as my mum's mum had a tough time with hers) and that result would have been available middle of next week. I wonder if the fear coupled with his just coming to have more interest in a closer walk with Jesus, was the reason why he was singled out for this attack. Hmmm... Secondly my good friend just accepted Christ recently and the moment she decided to receive Him, she has been attacked very badly. Her son fell sick...

Dad's been warded

My Dad's been warded at Tan Tock Seng Hospital for observation after blood was found in his stool and he suffered from pain in his stomach. I was out with Blogpastor, Malcolm, Stanley and a few of the other Christian Bloggers when I received a call by my Dad that he was heading to the A&E. Do keep him in your prayers and we reject all Physical Ailments in Christ. Amen.

Gospel Aerobics - for real!!

I was watching a Korean show on KBS World where a lady had lost some 30kg and become healthy, and I felt inspired as I watched her really work out and make healthy choices. So I thought maybe it is time to get off my butt and do some exercise instead of giving the excuse that I have a sedentary job. I youtubed aerobics exercise and the very first thing I saw was interestingly something called GOSPEL AEROBICS! Talk about no coincidence in Christ. Haha. I think I saw it before in Trumpet Praise but did not have the budget to get it. So yay that it was online. So I thought I'd give it a shot. This was the first routine I tried out and I must say although it does look a bit corny, it really workss out the limbs and get the heart pumping. I guess if bending the body to pagan positions can cause people to lose weight, just praising, God and getting a work out at the same time, should do even more eh? =D I can't wait to try the rest out tomorrow! Woohoo!
It is spring in Korea again and I am just remembering how Daddy clessed us so incredibly last year so that we got to spend our honeymoon in the land of the Annyong Haseyo. =) I am believing in Jesus that we will be able to head to Israel this year with Kae. Israel definitely is special to me and I would really love to walk the land Jesus walked with the people I love. But besides seeing the world, I am hoping that Ian and I will be able to start creating our own feature films soon and that they will be films that cause people to think about important issues. I used to like films like "The Hours"... but as I've grown in my walk with Christ, I find it harder and harder to agree with what is being portrayed in secular films anymore. What is being hinted in the subtext and the context of the film? Will it uplift or cause people to go off the deep end? These factors have become important to me. I used to just want to write good stories. Now I want to write good stories that il...

Come What May - the new film by Provident Films

When Does Life Really Begin? If college student Caleb Hogan argues what he truly believes, he stands to lose the most important competition of his life—and the support of his mother. If he softens his stance, he might win the coveted title...but lose the heart of his teammate Rachel in the process. Come What May is a vivid reminder that choosing whats right is never easy...but its always worth the cost. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RndNVjZnQ6g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF65PQm00Ng&feature=related Brilliant. I can't wait to get my hands on this DVD!! =D It addresses an issue very very close to my heart - Pro Life. Check out the clips. These were arguments I struggled with in my heart when I found out I was preggers with Kae. There is only truth and that is life begins at conception. Providence Films was also behind Flywheel, Facing Giants and Fireproof - a truly annointed Movie Ministry of an American church that dares to make a difference. God bless them! May He rise up...

Little Chunks of Wisdom

Earlier on, Kae ran up to me beaming all over his little face. "Mummy (points at the book Right Place Right Time), Jesus is at the right hand of God now right? SO the right side is grace right? So the right place is the place of grace right? Right Mummy?" Am I amazed? Very. I'm always amazed by how God has blessed little kids with His wisdom. :)

Conversations with the baby bear

"Mummy do you still love me?" - bleary, teary eyed he askd his mummy. "Of course I still love you. I am upset with the irresponsible bit but I still love you - very much. I forgive you but I want you to not be irresponsible with your things again." "Okay. I'm sorry." (cue googoo eyes veiled by long eye lashes =p) "I forgave you the moment you did something naughty, but it does not mean that I like you making the same mistakes over and over again. It just means you need to do what you can not to do this again. I won't stop loving or forgiving you though." "I love you Mummy." "Me too." They hug.

A Walk Down Memory Lane - 2nd Sept 2006 to be precise

Just marvelling at the humour God has blessed him with. =D “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) Kaelen was so farnie. The other day, Dad brought him and my aunt out for a drink at the coffeeshop. So they were sitting there- Dad and my Aunt had their coffee and Kae got his own cup of Milo. Our little friend was quite happy with his own cup of Milo and he started waxing lyrical to my Dad and Aunt. He was quite serious as he said his piece too. "You know ah Gong Gong... I feel like a big boy already. I even have my own cup of Milo. You know when I grow up and become an adult, I think I will also drink Coffee. Looks like it tastes very nice ah. So I will also drink Coffee." ROF!!! Dad and my Aunt were so amused by his little soliloquy. Kae is 4 years old and he sounds just like an old man. ^^ Then today, he saw me in my Transformer Tee with the Decepticon logo on it. And he happily ran up to me and said "Mummy ...

One of the easiest versions of Psalm 91 to memorise (Good News Bible)

Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to him, "You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust." He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases. He will cover you with his wings; you will be safe in his care; his faithfulness will protect and defend you. You need not fear any dangers at night or sudden attacks during the day or the plagues that strike in the dark or the evils that kill in daylight. A thousand may fall dead beside you, ten thousand all around you, but you will not be harmed. You will look and see how the wicked are punished. You have made the Lord your defender, the Most High your protector, and so no disaster will strike you, no violence will come near your home. God will put his angels in charge of you to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands to keep you from hurting your feet on the stones. You will trample down lions and ...

A heartfelt letter to parents of children

Today I want to address an important issue to parents that of sexual abuse or harassment. In a recent local article, it was reported that 2 in 5 women have been sexually harassed but never told anyone about it. I believe this culture of silent suffering and psychological punishment has its roots in one word - SHAME. Many parents here love to use the term "shame shame" when their toddlers run around naked in the house, do something wrong or aggrieve them. Perhaps it sounds harmless enough, but use it long enough and it does incubate in them a fear of shame with regards to their sexuality and issues regarding to their private bits and pieces. I was molested in Primary 3 or 4 by the trusted mama stall uncle down from my aunt's flat. I was beginning to slowly develop then and i was not the only person to realise that. This man we greeted and spoke to from our wee little years, exploited the trust our family had in him and brought darkness into little souls. It began with ha...
