Promises in Isaiah 65- uplifting!
I was just doing my quiet time when I came across isaiah 65. Was reading it and found much comfort, encouragement and joy. This is my personal reflection.
The Lord says, "I made myself known to those who were not asking for me.
I was found by those who were not trying to find me.
I spoke to a nation that did not pray to me.
'Here I am,' I said. 'Here I am.'
--> I believe that God was talking about the Gentiles here in Verse 1. The Jews await their Messiah still, and most have rejected Christ. But us Gentiles have access to the Bread of Life they have rejected. =) We hear Him and we know that He is here. Hallelujah!
We are the heirs to the promises of Abraham in Christ. Jacob and Judah are seeds of Abraham too. So I believe we have the good described and stated from verse 8 onwards! God promises good to those of us who choose to walk in His path, to serve Him. Praise God!
Here are some promises that stood out to me in this passage in Isaiah 65-
1) We will not be destroyed!
2) We will be blessed with children!
3) We will possess the entire promise land and live in it!
4) Our flocks will eat in the grasslands of Sharon!
Umm... What or Where is Sharon?
Here is a definition from a Bible Encyclopedia - "The soil in Sharon is a deep rich loam, which is favorable to the growth of cereals. The orange, the vine and the olive grow to great perfection. When the many-colored flowers are in bloom it is a scene of rare beauty.
Of the streams in the plain four carry the bulk of the water from the western slopes of the mountains to the sea. They are also perennial, being fed by fountains."
So we see Sharon is a very fruitful land that is not dry but well watered. A well watered place is a place full of the Holy Spirit. Desert land or Wilderness typifies a place that is dry and dead in the Spirit.
5) Our herds will rest in the Valley of Achor.
What is Achor???? (No, it does not refer to great-grandma as per the Peranakan lingo.)
Achor in Hebrew means trouble in English. Despite the trouble brewing around us, our investments and our career are safe. We can rest because the trouble cannot touch us. God has placed a hedge around us to keep us safe. Amen!!!!! =D
6) Because we don't believe in Fortune or Fate(fengshui, astrology, etc.), God rewards us. He rewards us for remaining in a close relationship with Him and trusting Him above all.
7) Because we are in Christ we will have food to eat, we will have plenty to drink (yay for the well that never runs dry!), we will be full of joy, we will be able to rejoice, we will not have sad spirits, we have life and a new name in Christ (aka Christians, Saints!). We will never have to fear for a lack of provision no matter what happens because Christ is faithful and He is our provision! =)
8) Our land is blessed. We ask Him to bless our land and guess what? He replied through Christ - ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, ask and it will be given unto you =D
9) God will forget the troubles of our past and these are hidden from His eyes in Christ because God no longer sees us in the flesh, He sees us in Christ - we ARE the righteousness of God in Christ. =)
Thank you Jesus that you became cursed in our place so that today we are free from the curse of the law and the fallen earth. =D
God is so good! AMEN!
