Eden & The Garden of Eden - what is the difference?
I used to suppose that Eden and the Garden of Eden were the same place. Then, I read an excellent article by Charles Capps that pointed out they were different.
I am sure many of my friends out there still do not know about that, so as promised, I am blogging about it.
I am going to quote, in my post, some stuff I learned from the book, "Angels - knowing their purpose and unleashing their power".
(Yes - I know the title of the book sounds dodgy- I did a double take when I first saw it - but it is a biblically sound book and Charles Capps is a very anointed pastor/preacher. I read the book two or three times already and I recommend this and his other book "The Tongue - a Creative Force" to you. )

Jude 1:6 tells us -
And the angels which kept not their first estate but left their own habitation he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
In Hebrew it actually means that the Angels kept not their first headship or first dominion.
This passage in Ezekiel 28:12-15 describes Lucifer -
12"Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre and say to him: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says:
" 'You were the model of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden,
the garden of God;
every precious stone adorned you:
ruby, topaz and emerald,
chrysolite, onyx and jasper,
sapphire, [a] turquoise and beryl. [b]
Your settings and mountings [c] were made of gold;
on the day you were created they were prepared.
14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub,
for so I ordained you.
You were on the holy mount of God;
you walked among the fiery stones.
15 You were blameless in your ways
from the day you were created
till wickedness was found in you.
Note again that the guardian cherub refers Lucifer.
Another thing - did you see the term used? Eden, Garden of God. Most of us just glaze by, thinking "Eden, Garden of God" = "Garden of Eden" The wording is different deliberately.
When Lucifer was in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Even, he had neither diamonds nor very nor gold covering him. Instead he was a serpent, covered in snakeskin. That was how he appeared to Eve. This is because Lucifer aka Satan aka Devil had already become a fallen angel.
All the beauty and authority he had was lost the moment he sinned against God.
How did sin against God? Isaiah reveals this to us in Isaiah 14:12-17
How you have fallen from heaven,
O morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!
13 You said in your heart,
"I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. [a]
14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High."
15 But you are brought down to the grave,
to the depths of the pit.
16 Those who see you stare at you,
they ponder your fate:
"Is this the man who shook the earth
and made kingdoms tremble,
17 the man who made the world a desert,
who overthrew its cities
and would not let his captives go home?"
From this passage you can see that Lucifer had a throne and he ruled over people.
Clearly his throne was located on Earth because he said "I will exalt my throne above the stars of God."
The stars were already there; they were already created. He said, "I'll ascend above the heights of the clouds, so the clouds were already there."
Lucifer had dominion and he had rule over a world and precious stones for covering... he was appointed as the anointed cherub to rule and reign that world.
So Lucifer is no longer possessing a bejwelled covering - that was in his old days in Eden, the Garden of God. This is why 2 Peter 2:5 refers to the "old world".
Another telling evidence is found in Hebrew 2:5 -
It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking.
Why would the author suddenly make this statement whilst talking about angels?
- Because the world that was had been in subjection to angels.
The world as we know it is no longer ruled by them, but angels have an important part to play on earth because they minister to us.
Altho' God created both Angels and Humans - we are different. People do not die and become angels - that is one of the worldly notions. We are seperate beings. (There is a lot more in the book about angels and it really brings about a revelation of how God has given us so much more authority than he has given the angels. For one, we have salvation but not them. And also we have free will but they don't. The list goes on. Go buy the book lah. =D IMHO it is well worth the $13.90 I paid for it...)
BUT in conclusion - since this post is on Eden and the Garden of Eden, I hope you can now see that the Garden of Eden was Adam's Garden and a totally different place from Eden, the Garden of God where Lucifer reigned. =)

ReplyDeleteYour comments about Eden are interesting. I'm reading about the origins of evil and the fall of Lucifer It is a scary but necessary revelation to us here on earth. I've had to sit down to show my children the awful consequences of choosing the dark side instead of light.
