Reflection for today - the Heavenly Potter
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD : "Go down to the potter's house, and there I will give you my message." So I went down to the potter's house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. - Jer 18:1-4
The Potter didn't just dump the clay aside and grab a fresh batch of clay to start over again. He took the clay that got marred and reshaped it. Remember that this is a human potter we see in the passage tho' so things did get marred in his hands. Thank God we are in the hands of Yahweh, our divine potter, so the only thing that tries to mar us is the world and badly made decisions by us... NOT Him =p
Sometimes we feel like we've messed up big time, but we know that with Jesus as our divine potter, He will mould us and shape us so that what might have marred us, have contributed instead to helping Him mould us to be better vessels of His saving grace. =)
Deut 23:5 "... the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you because the LORD your God loves you." - Praise Jesus!
I read an article recently about how a fire burned down a house such that everything was reduced to ashes but for pieces from a China plate that remained intact. This is because the China had already been tested in the fire and had passed the test... so whilst everything burned down, the China withstood the flames.
Jesus is our refining fire and because He has refined us in the Light of His Glory, we know that the flames can come but we can withstand them in Him. =)
When He stood by Daniel and his friends in the furnace they were put into by the King, the flames could not consume them - how much so then will we remain impervious to the flaming arrows the world shoots at us since He is now IN us (as the Holy Spirit)? =)
Also see 1 Kings 17:16 "For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah."
Our salvation, our provision and our anointing in the Holy Spirit is not limited and it will never run dry in Christ! He keeps topping them up. The faster the world tries to drain us, the faster He tops us up. Hallelujah! Jesus loves to top us up for "where sin abounds, grace super abounds!" (Romans 5:20)
Praise Jesus! My hope is Jesus and nothing else. =D You are the potter, I am the clay... Amen!
